What a great opening employing the whip! This device really makes the listener sit up and pay attention to what follows. You have created some really wonderful orchestral effects throughout this work, suggesting that you have a very fine ear for color. Indeed, you handle the orchestra very well throughout. I very much liked the way you shifted to a faster rhythmic pattern (or tempo) in the latter portion of the work. I really think I was able to get a nice glimpse of your grandmother through the music you wrote in tribute to her. She must have been a really remarkable woman!
